We are delighted to announce that on Friday 12th July 2024, Silver Birch Care (Holdings) Limited (SBCHL) acquired Northampton-based care provider Living Life UK Limited, which operates as The Banyan Tree.
This marks a unique and momentous occasion for SBCHL, as we celebrate the 10-year anniversary of our acquisition of 16+ supported living service, Silver Birch Care Limited on 23rd July.
It also marks a decade of partnership with Barclays Bank who have financed all of SBCHL’s purchases with facilities to date. The team, including Tony, Eddie, Dan, Lakhbir, Jane, and Stewart, have provided SBCHL with invaluable support over the years. Following their excellent evaluation, planning, and faith in us, we have been successful in securing the purchase and finance of The Banyan Tree, to augment and commemorate our 10-year anniversary.
Sadik and Fidahussein Premji, our longstanding trusted advisors at Primera Accountants, have also been vital to our success. They have been instrumental in financial planning for SBCHL from the very beginning, and without them, we would not be where we are today. We are truly grateful for their ongoing guidance and advice.
SBCHL also have a long-standing relationship with Clairfield who worked closely with Living Life to understand shareholder requirements, and prepare the business for a merger that provided the right strategic and cultural fit for the benefit of the team, and children and young people in their care. Clairfield’s strong understanding of the sector enabled a clear identification of an organisation which met those requirements, and delivered a highly successful outcome. The Clairfield team was led by Partner, Shah Zaki and Manager, Liam Hadfield.
This is a historic and exciting milestone for both SBCHL and The Banyan Tree, as together we will form a stronger unified service, drive further growth and innovation, and create more opportunities for the children and young people we support.
The Banyan Tree is an established care business that has offered exceptional residential services to children and young people since 2001, and has a proven history of improving outcomes for complex needs. They specialise in therapeutic and trauma informed practice, and currently have four homes providing a combination of Ofsted registered, CQC registered, and independent supported accommodation services in Northampton.
The Banyan Tree will add a fourth specialist provision to the SBCHL group, and there will be no changes to our internal structures apart from adding a new branch into our family tree. The Banyan Tree name, identity, and teams will all remain unchanged.
We are very pleased that The Banyan Tree founders, Lorraine and Paul, will remain in a consultancy capacity to aid with the transition, and to help integrate our services together. They added: “Whilst this decision was not an easy one after 23 years, we know that in Silver Birch we have found an organisation that shares our determination to continue to provide the highest quality of service where children and young people thrive, and that truly values its team members.”
SBCHL CEO Karim Lalani added: “Having had the privilege of getting to know Lorraine and Paul, it quickly became clear that our core values were well aligned; particularly ‘kaizen’ (commitment to continuous improvement), and dedication to improving the lives of young people. We are honoured to be chosen as the new custodians of the business Lorraine and Paul have built over the last 23 years, and look forward to working together to ensure The Banyan Tree continues to flourish as part of the SBCHL family. This marks another important milestone for SBCHL, which is made all the more exciting by the fact that we are due to celebrate the 10-year anniversary since first acquiring Silver Birch Care.”
We would like to say a special thank you to everyone involved in making this acquisition possible, including the Anthony Collins team led by Laura, the Barclays team led by Tony and Eddie, our venerable accountants and advisors Sadik and Fidahussein, the Clairfield team led by Shah and Liam, The Banyan Tree founders Lorraine and Paul, and finally, our amazing team at SBCHL led by Karim, Greg, and Rebecca.
