We’re delighted to announce that Silver Birch Care is now an approved SLQ Sports Leadership Qualification Centre!

We have now launched our Sports Leadership Programme commencing with Level 1 Qualification in Sports Leadership (SL1), run by our Sports Coach. As an approved centre, we have access to Skills Tracker, the online application for measuring and monitoring learners’ confidence in their skills throughout their courses.

Sports Leadership qualifications are designed to use sport and physical activity to help young people develop and hone their leadership skills whilst helping themselves and others stay physically active.

Young people undertaking a qualification in Sports Leadership will learn and demonstrate valuable life and employability skills such as effective communication, confidence, and organisation whilst learning to lead basic physical activities to younger people, their peers, older generations and within the community.

The courses involve both guided and peer-to-peer learning and supervised leadership, to ensure that learners have all the skills they need to lead basic physical activities to other people. Students will plan, lead and evaluate sports/physical activity sessions over a number of tutored hours, and then demonstrate their leadership skills as part of their assessment.

Upon completion of the course, students will be awarded with an official Sports Leadership qualification, which can be used on their CV and when applying for jobs or further/higher education. They will then be able to progress to Level 2 Qualification in Community Sports Leadership (which is recognised in personal statements) and Level 3 Qualification in Sports Leadership (which carries UCAS points).
