The results of our SBC 2021 boxing challenge are now in!

Our SBC boxing challenge ran for the entire month of March, with staff and young people across all SBC units invited to take part.

The challenge was set by our Sports Coach, Sanket. It consisted of a variety of boxing sets which were to be completed between 3-5x per week by each participant. The sets varied in intensity and were designed to encourage our young people to engage in physical activity, but more importantly to have a good time!

Full equipment including boxing gloves, punching bags and pads were supplied by us to each participating unit. All necessary safety precautions were taken to ensure that our SBC units were transformed into makeshift boxing rings so impressive that they rivalled that of Madison Square Garden arena!

It was a great opportunity for our young people to spend time together as well as with our staff. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves and it was certainly a welcome distraction during the COVID-19 lockdown period.

A number of our SBC units took part in the challenge, including Kennington, Hendon Central, Sudbury, Northolt, and Horsenden amongst others. All participants received a special medal and prizes for completing the challenge.

However, there can only be one overall unit and YP winner (as well as a runner-up). We are pleased to announce the results are… Drumroll please…….

Unit Winner: Kennington

Overall Winner: OS

Runner-up: IB

Everyone worked extremely hard, however Kennington was the clear winner with excellent support and participation from all the staff and young people.

Thank you to everyone who participated and supported with making this such a successful competition. Stay tuned for our next challenge, however in the meantime our ambitious young people can work towards achieving a Sports Leaders qualification. Find out more here.
